The Robots are P.A.R.A.D.E-ing! / by Jac Moore

Revolution is in the air - join the P.A.R.A.D.E Featuring dance, music and a renegade aerial robot, P.A.R.A.D.E is an epic spectacle created by National Dance Company Wales and the artist Marc Rees at Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff and Pontio, Bangor in October 2017. P.A.R.A.D.E is part of the Russia '17 season in Wales that marks the centenary of the Russian revolution with a range of events which capture the social and cultural explosion of the era and Wales’ historic connections with the Russia of the time. The trailers created for P.A.R.A.D.E are based around 4 theories of Russian Montage, Metric, Overtonal, Rhythmic and the montage of Attraction. Russian montage theory came into existence after the 1917 revolution, we have used this as a concept for the trailers to honour the way this theory changed filmmaking as part of the cultural revolution. ndcwales.co.uk Credit: Simon Clode

Over the last few weeks I've been working with National Dance Company Wales and Marc Rees to develop their latest offering; P.A.R.A.D.E, which opens next week.

Presented as part of the Russia '17 Festival, it's an amazing mash up of dance, physical theatre, cinematography and immersion that will stay long in the mind.
